After defeating Georgia 13-0 to finish the regular season at 7-2, the Yellow Jackets were invited to play in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day. A previously scheduled game with California at Grant Field on December 30 was cancelled, as Tech elected to play in the Orange Bowl instead.
