Georgia Tech vs. Georgia – November 30, 2013

Georgia: 41
Georgia Tech: 34

In one of the most gut-wrenching games in the history of Georgia Tech football, the Yellow Jackets succumbed to the Georgia Bulldogs 41-34 in double overtime to finish the regular season at 7-5.

Harrison Butker’s 22 yard field goal in the second quarter gave Tech a 20-0 lead, but it was unable to hang on for victory over the final thirty six minutes of play.

Vad Lee threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another in regulation, but threw a late interception that directly led to a 32 yard field goal by Marshall Morgan that tied the game at 27-all and eventually forced overtime.

Lee added another score from two yards out Tech’s possession of the first overtime period, but Georgia answered with three straight runs by Todd Gurley to tie the game at 34 and force double overtime.

Georgia went right back to Gurley in double overtime, and the sophomore back went 25 yards for a touchdown on the first play to give Bulldogs their first lead of the game at 41-34.

Tech drove to the Georgia three on its possession, but suffered a three yard loss on third down before Lee’s fourth down attempt fell incomplete in the end zone to seal the loss.

Georgia went on to face Nebraska in the Gator Bowl, where they fell 24-19 to the Cornhuskers to finish the season at 8-5, overall.
