The Georgia Bulldogs came into the annual rivalry game with a 9-0 record, the nation’s #1 rushing attack, and a #1 national ranking. Having defeated their previous opponents by an astonishing total score of 248-26, they were a heavy favorite over the Golden Tornado of Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech came into the game with a 7-1-1 record, having lost heavily at Notre Dame and tied at Vanderbilt.

The game was played in front of a record attendance of 37,000 fans. Assisted by rainy conditions and an astounding 6 turnovers by the Bulldogs, Tech went on to win the game 12-0, gaining a share of the Southern Conference championship, and dashing Georgia’s hopes to receive a Rose Bowl invitation.
